This is the official Brazilian "Independence Day". Brazil declared its independence from the Portuguese on September 7, 1822.

 

BRAZILIAN ARTS AND CRAFTS EXHIBIT University of Arizona

You are invited to come and see this wonderful exhibit of Brazilian artifacts, paintings, books, etc, in front of the Information Desk at the entrance of the University of Arizona's Main Library. We are pleased to add some paintings from two Brazilian Artists to this year's Exhibition: Maria Teresa Kolling and Haydee Pack, both residents in Tucson. Free to the Public.

Dancer Maestro Bardo Padilla will hold an hour long workshop for all students interested in learning how to dance Brazilian Samba. Please come with comfortable clothes and good shoes. No flip flops.

The Faculty and Students of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese invite you to come and hear the music and to see the arts of Brazil. Among the participants you will see for the first time a demonstration, Capoeira, Forró from the Northeast of Brazil, Rock and Jazz Brazileiro and other numbers. Come and enjoy this wonderful and unique experience!

BRAZILIAN NIGHT AT CANDELA'S RESTAURANT
Come and enjoy a wonderful Brazilian Dinner at Candela's, a Restaurant especialized in South American Cuisines, while listening to the wonderful "Bossa Nova" sounds of "Saravá". Special "Feijoada" (Brazilian Black Beans Stew), "Moqueca de Camarao" ( Shrimp Stew, Bahian style), e "Pudim de Coco" (Coconut Flan) and "Caipirinhas" will be served.
Reservations encouraged.

This promises to be the party of the year. Come to dance with the wonderful sounds of the best Brazilian Dance Band in Tucson Sambalanço. We encourage everyone to come dressed in a costume. There will be prizes for the best costumes of the night. Tickets will be $10.00 without a costume and $8.00 with a costume.
